Thank you for visiting my photo gallery. I hope you enjoy some of my work.
I have spent many happy hours planning for them, taking them, and preparing them
for exhibition.
At this time, I am attempting to keep this site small. If I ever decide to post
hundreds or thousands of images, I promise I will split them into categories. Meanwhile,
they are arranged to please my eye.
I am really excited about black and white flower photography. Not that I expect to shoot
ONLY black and white flowers, but I plan to shoot quite a few. In one sense, the bright
color of flowers gets in the way of appreciating their form.
Taken in late November at Pescadero State Beach at about 3:45 PM. The sky was
mostly cloudy and a thin mist hung in the air. The California coastline is absolutely
beautiful this time of year. These lonely beaches are one of my favorite places to be.
High quality prints of these images are available from DPCPrints. DPCPrints does an
excellent job of printing. I get all my own prints from DPCPrints, including ones
I'm entering in competitions.
Prints are made from high resolution scans and will
have more detail than you see on these web images.
There are usually one or two of my photos at DPCPrints that are not visible here.
Products and gift items made from some of these images
can be purchased at
Cafe Press. Currently I have
2005 Calendar Prints, a coffee mug,
a stein, mouse pad, greeting cards, a tile coaster,
tile boxes, a Japanese Chin t-shirt, a wall clock, and three
framed prints available.
Let me know if there is anything you'd like
to see.
I've made six of my favorite florals into a Windows Screen Saver. It's free to
download and use. You don't have to fill out a registration and it never expires.
It is an installer, so open it and it will set itself up.
Note that it does say "EdsPhotos.us" but I promise the images are the main
thing in this screen saver. The file is about 1.6MB and it takes me about 15 seconds
to download on a phone company DSL line. Dialup will take longer.

All the images on this page were made either with my Canon EOS Elan 7E or my
EOS 10D. With the Elan 7E I shoot almost exclusively Fuji Velvia (both ISO 50 and 100)
and Kodak Ektachrome E100VS.
The outdoor landscapes and seascapes were shot in my little part of Northern California.
There are photos taken in San Jose, San Mateo, San Francisco, Santa Cruz,
San Gregorio, Lake Vasona, The Los Gatos Creek trail, and various
other locations. I like shooting the bay marshes (tidal wetlands) in Sunnyvale and
at Coyote Point in San Mateo and the Pacific Ocean beaches near Half Moon Bay.
The florals are taken under natural light with living plants or cut flowers.
Florals are currently my vehicle for
special effects photography. My favorite special effect is the double exposure.
In this technique, the film is exposed twice - the first time sharp, the second
time out of focus. I first saw this technique in a photography book by Bryan F.
Peterson and I've been exploring it for some time. It works beautifully with
flowers, especially big bright ones.
The Siberian Husky is named Jimmy and he is ours. The little Japanese Chin
belongs to a friend. I may add more dog and animal photos eventually; at least
one photo of our female Samoyed dog, Shasta. Jimmy and Shasta are very well
suited for black and white photography.
I enjoy hearing from my visitors, so please feel free to
send me an email if you have
comments or questions. I am honestly interested in your feedback and critique.
What do you think of the photos I have posted here? What sort of things would
you like to see in the future?
Thanks again for stopping by.
